If there are any gods out there obsessing about what you do naked and with whom, it seems they would let you know it unambiguously, rather than just through the writings of lunatics from thousands of years ago.

yes. it is truly a sin to be gay, in the bible the town of sodom and gomora got destroyed by the wrath of god... because they were gay. If god wanted you to be gay... he would have only invented men.

I really don't know but people use the expression, "god created adam and eve not adam and steve" but I dont think your born with the choice of being gay a lot of people say that when your born gay it's because a male feels like he should have been born a woman and if theyre lesbian it's usually because the woman feels like she should have been born a male...you can't choose if your gay or not atleast I dont think you can...im a girl I love guys but I find myself fantasizing over making out with girls and having crushes on some...but I cant see myself being in a relstionship with one...so I dont really know...hope I helped.

Well, I've never read the bible myself but people are always saying that the bible says it's a sin to be gay but if it's really a sin to be gay then why did god make some people (including myself) gay?

Well I can't tell you exactly where the verse is in the bible, but all I know is God made Adam & Eve and not Adam & Steve!

Topics's been covered like a billion times, so what I said the last time

If you want exact passages, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Genesis 19, I Corinthians 6:9, 1 Timothy 1:9-10:...

but the bible also says slavery is ok, slaves can be struck, women who have had sex should be stoned to death, and women shouldn't talk in church...
And for the inevitable argument, here are the passages... Exodus 21: vs 2-6, Ephesians 6:5, Colossians 3:22, Titus 2:9, 1 Peter 2:18, Exodus 21:20-21, 1 Corinthians 14:34, Deuteronomy 22:20,21

so...

yeah, I say what difference does it make to anyone else who people choose to love!

As for God is setting up homosexuals to fail, well maybe the christian God is. I dont believe in that God. As for the people who cant say where it is in the bible. Maybe you should learn more about your religion... The bible also say it's a sin to shave your beard or touch anything a woman on her period has touched... well I guess women are just filthy creatures while on their periods and should stay locked up in captivity?

Leviticus 19:27 Ye shall not make a round cutting of the hair of your head, nor disfigure your beard.

Leviticus 21:5 And ye shall not shave your head for the dead with a baldness on the top; and they shall not shave their beard

Leviticus 15:19 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even. And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

lol, who knows? I want to know what makes women so disgustingly filthy when on their period she has to be kept away from everyone for 7 days... yeah the bible is interesting... I honestly dont like to pick because I believe it says some pretty good things too, but when you have bigots picking at phrases that suit them without any context, I dont feel bad doing the same thing...

God doesnt hate gay people, he just highly dislikes the gayness...im a catholic and I was always taught to love the sinner, not the sin...its another way of saying you should accept others, even if they have different beliefs than you do (like being gay)...but I have some bi friends who are catholic, so im not like "down with the gays" like most christians are...my problm is, I cant tell my parents about my friends because they wont let me see them or hang out with them again if they knew they were bi...im not embarassed by them, I just care about them so much I dont want to jeaprodize our friendship by telling my parents.

***yes. it is truly a sin to be gay, in the bible the town of sodom and gomora got destroyed by the wrath of god... because they were gay.***

That's not entirely correct. There were TWO cities, and there were several reasons God destroyed them, not just homosexuality...

well.. you have to remember most of that is the old law..
and women were very outspoken in that time and would just stand up randomly in church to ask their husband what was going on and such...and the men would have to hush them.. at least from what I've heard...

but God did create marriage to be sacred..

im still not shur on the whole thing..
but I know He like man and woman

but if your worried about eternal damnation...
then as long as your saved all will be good

Well everyone beleives in what THEY CHOOSE to believe in...

The way I look at it is, is if your gay, your gay...

Its like looking at it this way, some churches say, when you come to church, you must wear a tux and a tie... welll hell, if your going to church, does god really care how you dress.. or how you look... you should wear what you want.. exress how you want...

Some say its a sin..
some say its not...

it is how you feel it should be...

Okay, you know what? Forget what the bible says. I believe in God but I don't think I need to read the bible or attend church to prove that I believe in Him. That's not the way my life works and that's not how yours should work either. Believe in yourself and God. God loves everyone reguardless of who they are or what they've done. Race, sexual orientation and other none important things just do not matter. If you're gay, so what? Atleast you're being yourself and that's all that matters. Trust me, it's not a sin.

It is a truely a sin to be gay!! I'm sorry if people don't want to believe it but it is!! In Leviticus 18:22 it says " Do not lie with a man as one lies with a women; that is DETESTABLE" This is the main one. And yeah it says that PRIESTS must not shave their head!! That is in Leviticus 21:5. If you don't want to believe it, then don't, but when the time comes, many will regret for disobeying the word GOD!! The bible is a rule book that Prophets themselves got from God. And yeah you don't have to go to church, but you have to read the Bible and Pray to him. There's a big difference from believing in God and following his rules. You must do both in order to recieve your blessing The Bible is written by God himself, but Prophets wrote it for him. They recieved dreams and visions!! Read the book of Revelation to know what the punishment will be for disobeying GOD!! John Himself was there when Revelation was written. So you must believe in the Bible and NEVER ignore or forget what the Bible says

Exactly how do you expect those 'smiley faces' to correlate with all that condemnation, Lil' Miss Fanatic?

Okay, let me get this straight...

You can't go to heaven if you are a sinner...and
Homosexuality is a sin...so
You can't go to heaven if you are a homosexual because homosexuality is a sin...

So...
Do you mean ANY sinner can't go to heaven?
or just the ones that have different sins than you?

If sinners can't go to heaven, heaven must be empty...

Boys when you take things out of context it sure looks bad for the Christians huh?

Okay, seriously, if you keep it in context being Gay is not a sin, but acting on it is.

Oh, and by the by, the reason they had those laws in the Jewish culture were for cleanliness, and didn't you ever wonder why the jews had less in the way of health problems when they kept all their laws. Seriously, everything ws unclean, and not just women. The issuance of sperm was unclean as well.

And as for the verses about women keeping silent in church, it was done because of what was going on at the time. Christians were being persecuted even more because in their culture women were supposed to act a certain way. and they stopped once they followed Jesus. He equalized things between men and women, still leaving men as the head of the household, but pointing out that the men belonged to their wives as much as the wives to their husbands.

And as for bible verses, most of them can be picked up on a search engine yes, but for those Christians who don't have much to do with teaching it is harder to memorize the verses. I'm not ashamed to say I can't remember more than 20 or 30 and most of those for evangelizing, not for judging people.

Basically, back to the question, I think it is a matter of which religion you are what they will say, but according to the pastor at Neighborhood, Brian Haggarty, It is the act that is the sin. I know somewhere there is a verse about looking at a woman to lust after her is as much a sin as acting on it, but to be honest, I believe it is only the act.

I also believe that act can be forgiven by Jesus.

Well, to reply to amoeba, rather than to address the original question, the idea is that we are all sinners and Jesus has died to forgive us. If we turn to Him we are bathed in the light of His forgiveness, but we have the option to turn our backs on that light, too. Any Christian will continue to sin in some (probably many) ways but will feel bad about that and will want it to change. I still get ratty and irritable but I'm sorry for it.

The issues I presume are being discussed above (I haven't read it all) are presumably to do with unrepentant sin. If I justify my anger and irritability and say it is all the fault of the idiots who surround me, I'm unrepentant and I don't ask for forgiveness. If I admit I'm a sinner and ask for help to change and forgiveness, that forgiveness (and that help) are freely given. I'm not equating this situation to homosexuality, just using it to answer your logical query above.
