Gangs colors

Are gang colors that big of a thing in gangs anymore, such as the Bloods and Crips (red/blue)? Like what if some guy was walking down the street in LA with a red handkerchief in his back pocket, is some Crip going to fly by and pop a cap in that mofo,...

or do they not generally care about colors so much anymore because of such occurences, or more importantly, because sporting gang colors makes them easily identifiable by police?

yes they do most definitely still care, I'm from LA and there were plenty of gang fights around my area even though I lived in a pretty nice part. if you look like a cholo and you're wearing red in crip territory, HELL YES they care, they'll shot him. that's why when me and my friends go walk around we make sure we don't wear any gang colors, just in case. but being in a gang isn't illegal. so if the police see a guy decked out in red or blue they don't care. the cops can't do anything about it, unless he gang member does something illegal.

Yeah cuhz I live in the hood man there was some bloods who just shot a foo I dont know why but they did. I had a blue rag on time up on a norte area and they saw it and said " ay you a scrap?!" So yeah it does still happen.

Well, suppose it was like an orange bandanna, or some color that's not a big gangs color. Would some large gang give you crap for sportin' some random colors, thinking you were part of some silly little outfit? Or not care since they aren't gang colors?

well if you're a true gang member you're smart. you have to know what signs what colors and what tattoos other gangs rep. you can't be some rinky dink moron, you have to be street smart. so if you're walking around wearing random colors they probably wouldn't do anything, at the most they'll come up to you and ask what gang you're from. gang members are easily identifiable by pretty much anybody. so educated gang members can 98% of the time tell if you're part of a rival gang, or just some guy wearing orange. but there is still that 2% of gang idiots who can't tell the difference, so it's not worth taking the risk of repping any gang colors.. cause you never know it could be your life..

In reality now it isn't just bloods and crips. There are sports gangs, fashion gangs, and pretty gangs. Just about any group that can get together and call themselves a gang, posse, family, whatever the case may be are doing it. They become violent. They try to use scare tactics on people. I lived in California most of my life. There were crips, bloods, mongers ect all around. They did not shoot you just because you had a red bandana in your pocket. If that was the case it would be a serial killer type of thing. They rival. They know who is whom. Yet there are some gangs that have initiations that call for murder. Some commit crimes against innocent people in order to be able to join.
