It means the question was either inappropriate, against the rules, cheating on homework, or whatever. Pretty much, anyone asking that question shouldn't be, or it shouldn't be answered. So they lock it to protect our little virgin minds...

Hi ya,
This would have quite rightly been locked by an advisor as you asked how to get around blocked websites on your school server.

This question is not permitted on here as your school choses to block these sites for a reason regardless or not if you agree with them or not.

Your school would maybe claim that you are at school to learn and not to use their facilities to access sites that they have deemed innapropriate for you to access while you are on their premises.

It means the question can no longer be answered because of a violation. It could be against the terms of use, or just very inappropriate.

they don't lock them to protect our virgin minds, just their own. I sometimes wonder if its an ego thing.

They are locked when they break the terms of use or are likely to encourage or attract replies that break the terms of use.

Members agree to the terms of use when they join the site. Basically, if you are not willing to abide by these terms then no one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to join.

The reason why this site is not overun by idiots is mainly due to a bunch of volunteers who monitor the site.

Please remember that although one has to be 13 to be a member, anyone of any age is able to view the questions.

Finally, I fail to see why the monitoring of the site ensuring that the terms of use are met has anything to do with egos? It sounds as if you have a personal grievance because you have had questions locked or deleted in the past for very valid reasons.
