Fbi loses lawsuit based on national security letter, then withdraws

Jeremy Goodrich yep, that's me Asked by thedude 19 days ago, 3 answers.

So, three times now the FBI has used a national security letter (NSL) to obtain information, and then was sued and the defendent one, under the grounds that the request was unconstitutional.

And each time the FBI lost the lawsuit, they no longer bothered to collect the data...if it was so important that they had to have it and they used the patriot act authorized NSL's to make the recipient unable to even *talk* about the request...isn't that an indication what they wanted wasn't even important?

Either that, or they're trying to hide what they were really looking for.
The dont want anybody snooping, so they just drop it. Discontinue the trail of bread crumbs, so to speak.
