Those Sweepstakes are usually scams. I see it happen aaaaaall the time. You magically win (everytime) and you deposit the check then it bounces.
She needs to report it to the police and give as much information as she can.
She needs to put funds back into her account. There is really no recourse for her to follow except to complain to the company that issued the check.
I'd look into some legal consel on this. . . if the check was bogus the issuing organization is at fault and liable.
why dont you send me a check 4 20euro and I will tell ya
It is a scam I almost got caught up in it. Go to your local police department and put a report in for the issuing company and the person's name that is on that letter. Good luck.

What to do about an overdraft due to a fake check?
I am trying to help my friend figure out what to do with a check she received in the mail. It was from a sweepstakes she entered online. She deposited the check, due to being an out of state check the bank held for 24 hours, her bank let her withdraw funds the next day, then the day after that her account was over drawn. The bank on which the check was drawn apparently didn't clear the check. But her bank let her withdraw funds as if the check had cleared. What should she do about this overdraft?
