End of the world?

Asked by 2gether4never about 1 month ago, 11 answers.

I've watched shows about how the mayans predicted the world will end december 21, 2012. I would just like to know what people think about this. I know that nobody can predict something like this but I still dread that day and it's scary to think about. but what do you all think?

Thanks. =]

No one knows when the world will end except God, and if your living your life right you shouldnt be worried about when the end will come!

Don't dread it. And don't pay any attention to it. In my long life of many decades, I've lived through at least 4 of these special 'dates'

I find it hard to believe...
Considering what was predicated to happen in year 2000.

They said the exact same thing when the 90's era was coming to its end in the year 2000 and nothing happend at all.

I believe that the world will end but the problem is we just dont know when it will.

As a christian I believe the world will be engulfed in flames after the rapture is over, God is going to pick a day when we will all be taken from where we stand into the new realm which God resides in which is Heaven. And all who is left behind will have to suffer there demise and question about there faith on earth because the world is going to be set in flames and be destroyed..

I saw the same show, the mayan calender from my point of view is pretty accurate, but I believe that there is some controversy as to the meaning of 'end'. their calender has many such 'ends'- if I understand it correctly the world as we know it will end- meaning it will change- it could mean that the world will be destroyed- but most likely something dramatic will happen, and the world will go on.
I do not believe as the christians do that this is the second coming.
oddly enough this date could correspond to HILLARY being in office.
I wouldn't worry about that date- if it happens there is nothing we can do about it- if it doesn't then it will go down in history as just one more of those false alarms that have been prophesied by a lot of fanatical christian sects over the centuries, but being that it is a pagan culture I would be inclined to believe that something just might happen.

well all I can say is only god knows when the world will end, not the mayan calender.

...No one thought the world was going to end in 2000.

I feel no calender can predict what will happen in future. the world can get destroyed may because of issues like global warming, but end... I dont think so.from the day earth is made till now it faced lots of challenges... striking meteorites etc. but it is yet there . it have given challenge to races like of dinosaur they vanished but the world is yet beautiful and stable. the thing that came have to end. but human cant predict what going to happen with it.

according to me one possible end can be where sun fuel(hydrogen ) finishes and in further process of enlargement of the sun the nearby planets can be engulfed by the immense heat.

rest cant say may be it can get destroyed tomorrow by solar storm???

To be blunt, I get tired of hearing this. The Mayans DID NOT PREDICT that the world would end in December 2012. The Mayan calendar is circular, or cyclical, and that date is simply the end of the last cycle they had inscribed on their calendar. Had their civilization continued, they likely would have inscribed a new calendar, and in Mayan culture the end of a cycle is cause for celebration, not fears of the world's end.
