Do blind people dream?

:) Asked by merriemac 26 days ago, 11 answers.

The ones that are born blind.
What about deaf people? How do they understand their dreams if they can't hear?

Yes they dream... they dream in the way they view the world, so through sounds and touch...
same thing for deaf people... they dream in the way they see the world...

A dream is not something that's external coming from the outside... it's your own brain firing neurons, so you're going to dream in a way that makes sense to you...

I'm not sure about the first one but I was once told by a deaf person that they think and talk to themselves in sign hehe, so I imagine that whatever "interaction" they might have in a dream would be in sign as well.

but dreams are always some kind of image...
or am I wrong?

Because if you never seen anything before, wouldn't you just dream of darkness??

O_o they can dream in images though it may sound weird blind people know color touch shape etc etc of objects and so they imagine what it is like. even the ones born blind understand what colors look like in general, its hard to explain but its true... as for dreams being an image, no thats not true, you could dream of having your eyes closed and see nothing at all...

no dreams are not an image... dreams are simply things your brain conjures up... so the way you perceive the world is how you dream (sight, sound, touch, smell) and because you see images you dream in images, the way they perceive the world is how they will dream it...

Good question, everyone dreams but I really dont know if they can use those senses while dreaming. I did have a conversation with a friend of mine once who was in a wheelchair all his life. I asked if he ever had a dream that he was walking and could feel his weight on his legs and feet. He said no but a lot of the times in his dreams he floats just above the ground to get where he needs to go.

Blind people can dream.
I'm blind since birth and, whenever I dream, I tend to hear things in my dreams. As far as deaf people, I'm not sure how they interpret dreams but, I'm sure they can visualize if they can see.
Otherwise, if someone happens to be blind and deaf at once, I really don't know how they can interpret dreams. That's a good question.
I know, blind people like myself have dreams. We can have creative minds like people with vision.
