Should I go visit my dad?

My parents broke up when I was young and I hardly got to see my dad. He lives in Missouri, he was mean to my family and stuff, but now he wants me to go visit him. should I go see him?

He's the only Dad you'll ever have - if it's safe, see him, see what he has to say, and get all your questions answered - you can determine if a future relationship is possible...I wish you the best !!

If it were me I'd write a couple of times, in part to see if he would bother to take the time to write back. Sort of a test.
In any event, don't get your hopes up. Remember that this is the a-hole who abandond you and your mother after mistreating you (and her). Your Mom is the one who stuck by you.
Has he ever helped support you? Has he sent you regular b'day cards?
Don't trust him UNTIL he has proven himself worthy. He was an a-hole then, he probably still is.

For your sake I hope he has changed. Maybe, but I'm just saying.

try bringing a friend with you, or cousin...

you'll feel sure of yourself knowing that you have someone with you.

You need to think about what you want! My mum and dad broke up and I didnt see him again because I didnt want to. People said that I was stupid and that I would regret it but I dont! I really think you should talk to your mum or brother and sister if you have any to see what they think but even so you should listen to your heart!! Either way it's your decision.
