How is prejudice stereotyping and hate acquired?

A lot of the time it comes from parents, or the lack of it also comes from parents...

If you teach your kids to recognise that 'different does not mean wrong', and give them the chance to meet lots of different people, eat foods and listen to music from different cultures etc, they get the hang of the fact that everyone is special, but varied.

If you keep them in one type of culture and communicate your fear of difference, they learn that from you.

When they get to school and encounter prejudices, they will either reject them because they've learned better at home, or they will just believe them because they seem to match the attitude at home.

Well I guess according to the learning theory of psychology it is learned behavior...
You see it, hear it from other people and slowly incooperate it into your schematics...

As john locke said we are born with a blank mind slate. We learn through interaction and behaviors and thus that is how we learn and progess our thoughts and opinions on other people. Usually the enviroment someone is born into plays a major role in shaping them and what there opinions are. If someone is placed in a negitive enviroment they will therefore grow up acting more negitively than someone who was raised in a positive enviroment. Although these atitudes can be changes usually it does not happen and considering how judgmental we are in society today it probably won't happen for awhile. If you want to learn more I suggest you go watch young children because they have not yet made opinions of other and interact very differently compared to an adult.
