Digital camera

I borrowed my friends camera and I plugged it in and everything to my computer but nothing pops up or anything.
Does anyone know how I can get the pics off the camera to save to my computer?

plug it in.
make sure that it is turned on.
annnd if nothing pops up then go to "my computer" and see if it shows up there.
if so.
double click it.
and then it pretty much gives you step by step instruction from there on.
