Basically you must be repetive in training the dog to NOT dig the holes. I have two English Springer Spaniels. Nikki was the first one we got, and she too loved the hole digging.
After I scolded her a few times "bad girl" she stopped doing it. Her brother, Kiehin, has not dug any holes, he is too busy eating the cut grass, like his sister happy)
You must be repetitive in your training of eliminating the bad behavior and praising for good behavior.

well you can disipline the dogs if you catch them digging give them a small spanking and tell them no everytime if they stop when you tell them no give them attention and say good boy/girl so then they know they did good by stopping.i have 4 dogs and they pretty much well trained i got them to stop digging.the other choice is if their digging by the fence you can but a small fence to block the bottom.
