Funny, true story: George Bush's older brother's company was in charge of security at both the two towers *and* the airport where the planes got jacked.

Sorry to bring it up, but isn't that more "newsworthy" than something a religious figure was misquoted as saying?

Yep, it is, because that company the elder Bush sibling was in charge of had lots of middle east investment...you know, like the kind that the *entire* Bush family has, with similarities between that & the nationality of the hijackers.

But of course, it makes FAR more sense to go digging into some random *comments* on the event, 7 years later, than it does to investigate the guy running the country who's personal connections to the event are far larger than statistical analysis or serendipity would explain.

No, I don't think any country deserves to have its citizens targeted in such a way. I do believe, however, that we are responsible for our actions overseas and that we reap what we sow.

Wright never said the US "deserved" 9/11. He was talking about the root causes for why it happened. And he was absolutely right. If you would take the time to listen to the speech in its entirety, you would find out he made a very literate and well-reasoned argument that goes a little beyond the "they hate our freedoms" explanation for 9/11 that we get from the administration.

But in the corporate-controlled media we only get 10 second sound bites that completely misrepresent what he said.

Vultureofculture, Bush did nothing. I don't know if you are just brain dead or stupid. Bush had been in office barely 7 months when we were attacked. The former president had several opprotunities to apprehend or take out Bin Laden but did nothing.

We have not been attacked since 911 because of President Bush's fast response to the terrorist. This is fact wake up and get out of the fantasy world you live in.

if we are reaping what we sowed then why do the other countries and their people look to the US for help in times of emergency or dire needs. If we hadn't gotten involved in WWII the french would be speaking German today. After the attack on Pearl Harbor we bombed Japan and then after letting them know that they messed with the wrong one we rebuilt their country. When is the last time that Russia or communist China ever rebuilt or helped out another country in time of distress?

justsearching asked "When is the last time that Russia or communist China ever rebuilt or helped out another country in time of distress?"

russia was one of the first countries to offer assistance to the us after hurricane katrina. up to four jets were placed on standby at the airport ramenskoe near moscow as early as august 30, including heavy Ilyushin Il-76-TDs with special evacuation equipment, medical equipment, a water-cleansing system, a rescue helicopter BK-117 and two special cars; and a passenger IL-62, which brought 10 coordinators and 50 rescuers, as well as 6 tons of drinking water. president bush initially refused the russian aid. finally on September 6, the Bush administration gave its approval.
russia also gave millions in tsunami aid.

people's republic of china
on september 2, the ministry of foreign affairs offered $5 million along with emergency supplies, including 1,000 tents, 600 generators, bed sheets, immediately for disaster relief. china also offered to send medical care and rescue workers if they were needed. this aid package consisting of 104 tons of supplies later arrived in little rock, arkansas. a chartered plane carrying the supplies arrived on september 7.
China gave 83 million dollars in tsunami aid.

you accuse vultureofculture of being brain dead or stupid ... I can only assume that you think he doesn't know the truth. well look at your answer...if we judge you in the same light...you must be brain dead or stupid. I am going with stupid because brain dead implies that you have one...
do you just make-up your facts? do you even bother to research or just go straight for the lies?
your myopic view of the united states and the rest of the world is amazing in it's cold war mentality.

everything in this world is cause and effect...
everything the united states does has an effect...

"Vultureofculture, Bush did nothing. I don't know if you are just brain dead or stupid. Bush had been in office barely 7 months when we were attacked. The former president had several opprotunities to apprehend or take out Bin Laden but did nothing."

You are partially right. Bush did nothing, but not because he was in office for only 7 months. He did nothing because he is imcompetant, and didn't care. It was discovered after Bush took office that the bombing of the uss cole was the act of AQ. Bush did nothing about it. He had a warning in August of 2001 while on one of his many vacations that AQ was determined to strike, and he completely ignored that too. So your accusations of clinton doing nothing (which is not true) rings rather hollow.

"We have not been attacked since 911 because of President Bush's fast response to the terrorist. This is fact wake up and get out of the fantasy world you live in."

Do you get all of your talking points from FOX Noise? It is a fact that the US has not been attacked by AQ since 9/11, but giving credit to bush is pure supposition. Bush's actions have done nothing to rid the world of terrorism or make us safer. On the contrary, he has increaded it tremendously as the NIE has concluded.

about my opinion
if you read any books (which I highly doubt)
that are about bush and are completely factual
it says ,to keep it simple, that he was told that there was a huge chance of terrorism threats
but, he did (like I recall you said)NOTHING
