Diamond ratings for hotels.

I will be traveling to New York this Christmas and I am looking at Diamond ratings for hotels. Do hotels with high Diamond ratings mean anything in New York or are these just hotels that are subscribing to Diamond Ratings? Is there a better way to...

Actually the Diamond rating system is a good system to follow. I had a good experience the last time I traveled and used a "diamond rated" hotel. With everything there are always flukes, but I would rate the "diamond rate" highly.
