In talking about cryptids, it's sometimes almost silly to talk about belief or nonbelief. Cryptids, after all, turn out to be real creatures every so often. Before Africa had been thoroughly explored by Europeans, for instance, the mountain gorilla was seen as an elaborate myth, and the okapi is such a bizarre creature, who would dare believe in it?
My favorite cryptid, though, goes by Bloop, known only by a mysterious unexplained underwater audio recording from 1997. Whatever made the noise was massive, but no one knows what it was.
Check this out for an exhaustive list of the world's beasites, from straight-up myths to local legends to could-be-trues: http://en.wikipedia....
Check out THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO MYSTERIOUS BEINGS by John Keel. He documents his research into numerous reported encounters with bizarre creatures of every stripe. He references the research of Ivan Sanderson... the father of cryptozoology... I'm guessing a wellspring of creatures can be found where he is... or not... depending.

Criptids do you believe in them?
