Dear mcpharr,
Yes, it is very sad to have a loved one slip away but unfortunately one time or another we all have to go through it. We all don't handle it the same way and grief counselling is (my opinion) the best type of counselling and this help is available to all of us. The tough part is to not feel sad and hopeless when we see them while they are still with us. We have to tell ourselves that each second we do spend with them is special and we should not pull away at this time but to pull them closer by holding them close, crying with them, and most importantly laugh with them. Talk about the happy times you shared with them and listen carefully to what they are saying to you. If your grandma is not able to communicate she may be able to still hear and understand so don't forget to read to her and tell her jokes etc. The saddest thing is if she passes and you thought you didn't say everything you wanted to her when you had the chance.
Sue...good luck

How can i cope with the grief of losing a loved one?
My great grandma is slowly slipping away, and I'm going to really miss her. I've known her all my life. I know she's going to a better place, but I still don't want her to go. Does anyone have any advice on coping with grief?
