Every country has their own holidays, and many countries have several different types of holidays based on nationality and religion.
Not everyone celebrates Christmas, but there are other similar holidays for everyone, that are celebrated differently.
I actually find it a little sad that only the most well-known holidays ever get any mention.
I don't live in the United States (: I live on a tropical island called Curacao, but we are a part of The Netherlands (Holland), so we have Dutch traditions here, and I love them! (: I'm Dutch myself, so this is what I grew up with.
We have Christmas, ofcourse, and we celebrate is basically the same way that you guys do. We have New Years Eve (: But what we also have that you don't is a holiday called Sinterklaas. Sinterklaas is a lot like SantaClause. (Eventho we also have a SantaClause during Xmas) But the story of Sinterklaas goes like this:
Every year on December 5th, Sinterklaas comes to Holland (or Curacao) because usually he lives in Spain. He's a really really old man that loves to give little kids presents. But only if they were nice the whole year long! He also has "Zwarte Pieten"-which is basically "Black Pete's" in Dutch. They help him handing out the presents! (: All the little kids love SInterklaas, and everyone still celebrates it, even if their kids are old and they know Sinterklaas doesn't truly exist. They still hand out presents for eachother.
Anyway, then we have Easter, and we have Halloween. But we don't have 4th of July!

Cool holidays
this is just something that popped into my head which I thought would be fun to share. I for one love living in the united states and feel completely blessed to live here and be free. but other than that don't you think that it's cool that on holidays...
the whole country celebrates it whether it has to do with presents, costumes, food, or whatever. I for one thing that it's great. there are some countries who don't have any holidays but for us, like on halloween, christmas, and the 4th of july we find fun ways to have fun and make people smile by handing out candy, lighting firework, etc. just something to think about
