How to convince my parents to do foreign exchange?

How can I convince my parents to let my go on a foreign exchange program next fall? I just talked to my mom and she said, "you aren't mature enough and you don't want to miss the beginning of your first year of high school." I see her point, but I know...

I am mature enough and this is really something I want to do! I do not want to wait for my softmore year, and in the spring I will be too busy here to go. How can I convince them to let me go???

Tell her about all the new exsperience you'll gain. You'll learn a LOAD! Reasearch where you're going and asure her it'll be safe.

just get good grades and show her that you are doing well in school and let her know that the schools in other places are more advanced and you can earn more credits quickly.
and its very good for getting jobs.

I wouldn't want to miss my first year either. Consider going your sophomore year, and it will be easier to convince her. And oh yeah, be EXTREMELY mature this whole next year, even if you already think you are, just to show her that you can handle it. That means no talking back if you get mad, if things don't go your way, just smile and say, "oh well, maybe next time", and consider volunteering at the hospital, nursing home, or a homeless shelter. It will show her just how mature you are. If something is worth doing, it's worth the effort to put into it to get to do it. happy Hope that makes sense.

BTW, I'm not saying you don't already do those things, it's just a reminder to keep doing them. Good luck. happy

what I did, was I got ALL of the information I could find and showed it to them, and that showed them how much I wanted to go and that I was responsible. most importantly, don't whine or scream or yell or anything- stay calm.
tell them it will look great on a college application, or job resume. and negotiate to wait until after your first year of highschool, and to go for only a semester, not a full year. trust me- part of the reason they don't want you to go is because they'll miss you.

good luck!
