You can get it without your parents' knowledge. You can go into the doctor secretly or for a made up reason. Or, as the person above me said, go to Planned Parenthood. I haven't personally experienced it, but I think Planned Parenthood might help you with costs a little bit.

But if you don't do that andn you just go to the doctor-it may be expensive, yes, but I use a generic brand so it's a little cheaper than the ones you see on TV. But just to let you know- this eventually will be discovered by your parents. Whether they figure out the birht control or just that you're having sex. I'm just saying it is pretty hard to keep under wraps. There's maybe a small chance that it will be kept a secret, but it'll be hard to keep it completely hidden. And it would be better to discuss it with your parents anyway.

It's illegal for your doctor to discuss you appointment with your parents - I'm not sure about the cost because we have a different system where I live.

Trinichick, just so you know. Indeed, it is illegal for the doctor to reveal the reason for your visit, but IF you are using your parent's insurance, the visit will appear on the statement from the insurance company, so just go to the doctor as if it is a regular visit, or maybe a visit "because of an earache - or whatever." That way the charge will be expected.
If that is a problem, visit Planned Parenthood. There are several in the DC area.

And REMEMBER --- oral contraceptives do not protect you from STD's, so you may want to also use condoms.

PS - a great many women use oral contraceptives to regulate their periods. So that is another reason to take them.

Take Care, Stay Safe, and, as always,
Good Luck!!

I would recommend going to Planned Parenthood.
They won't tell your parents.
It's very professional, and the people who work there are very kind and helpful.
Depending on how much you make, the services will be free or very cheap.

I get my birth control there, and it's a very good experience all around.
