Confused, please help

Asked by fau over 2 years ago, 2 answers.

My period is very unstable, the only way I get it is when I'm on birth control. My question is if I want to have a baby one day how can I get pregnant while on birth control because without it I have no period?

I think that if you stop taking birth control you body might regulate itself over time and maybe you will start having your periods naturally. You might want to ask your doctor about this though since this is just a guess.

I have known many people who did not have regular periods, and were actually put on the pill so that they WOULD get periods at least three times a year, which is the goal most doctors set for women. Were your periods irregular before you started birth control? Some women have irregular periods because of weight loss or gain, intense exercise, stress, or other factors that a doctor can sort out. Talk to your doctor about the affect your birth control pill has on your period, and he will possibly be able to find a way for you to have periods without your birth control by adjusting whatever factors that are preventing it from happening on its own. If you want to have a baby, you obviously have to stop the pill in order to ovulate, which is why you will need your doctors help to find a new method for keeping your cycle to at least three times a year.
