THere are TONS of things to be that isn't scary. Halloween isn't alwys a scary holiday, its also a fun holiday, being something you're not.

Be a rockstar, or a genie, be a wizard, a princess, be a cat, or a bunny haha! Just be something you like. Be a hippie, or something hilarious that will keep the atention on you, like ab ig hot dog! Have fun painting your face, making yourself beautiful or silly! Its all just a fun holiday and its not real. As for your friend, same thing. Maybe he likes being scary but give him some ideas. There are internet sites you can visit to see halloween ideas. Tell him to be a prince, a 3 musketeer, cowboy, an old woman/man! Something fun. hope I gave you some good ideas, my friends and I always have fun when we are in America with our cousins for halloween.
