Circumcision and the % of boys who recieve the operation.

Myself at Lake Tahoe USA Asked by eddyk 3 months ago, 1 answer.

In searching the net today I discovered that around 65% of males in the USA are circumsised before the age of 15...in the UK the figure is 62% lower at only 3% of males being circumcised by the age of 15.

My question:
Why is there such a vast...

difference of percentage between the US and UK as far as circumcision goes?

Even then the USA is out done by other developed nations such as south korea...where 90% of boys are circumcised by the age of 15.

Based on my research, there is one striking difference--the published circumcision literature in each country.

According to Edward Wallerstein, who wrote "Circumcision: The uniquely american practice", there was an abundance of anti-circumcision literature in the UK and Australia and Canada, but not in the US.

Anticircumcision articles appeared in the medical press in all of these countries except for the United states.

"Also, in 1971, the Australia Paediatric Association recommended: "Male infants should not as a routine be circumcised."13 In 1975, the Canadian Paediatric Society stated, ". . .there is no medical indication for circumcision in the neonatal period." No similar statements were produced in the US.

It could be a possible reason, you can read his whole article here:
