Chick-dead or alive

Would I have killed the chick if I cracked the egg slightly by dropping it about 5cmhigh???

A couple inches? Assuming the albumen did not leak (since eggshells contain a flexible membrane on the interior surface) and the yolk is not visibly damaged (hold the egg up to a lightsource and look for distortions) I don't think it would kill the chick.

Oxygen has gotten into the egg so I would guess that is will most likely start to rot now. Rotten eggs are bad!
