What precautions to take before a cartilege piercing?

Im hoping to get a cartilige pericign soon but I dont no the cautions I have to take like..What is the difference in needles and guns.Does The Needle hurt less..Becasue thats what I've heard...ANd where can you get youre peircing done wiith the needle...

if you get your cartilige pierced with a gun it can damage your cartiliage and your ear forms a bump on the back of it. its recommended that you get it done with a needle its safer and smarter. and it doesnt hurt any more then using the gun. You can get it done at a tattoo shop but you have to be 18 depending on where you live. if you want it done with a gun go to claires

I've had both ear pierced that part and it didnt hurt a bit, they used the same machine which you use to pierce the normal part of the ear at the bottom. It looks nice and unique...Go for it!

you can have it done with a needle at a tattoo shop. I used to pierce ears with a gun, and cartilige can be really tough, like hard to pierce through with a gun. I dont know if it hurts less, I mean either way your going to feel a "pop" but its over in a second any way. good luck!

I had my cartilige in both ears done a yr ago with the gun, the studs they used were too short. I ended up going and buyin 10g hoops to put in my ear.it only took about 3 weeks for them to fully heal but I had to do it all over again I WOULD GO TO A TATTOO AND PIERCING SHOP AND GET IT DONE WITH A NEEDLE... THATS HOW I HAD MY NOSE DONE!!! ( LOVED IT) didnt hurt at all my ears hurt worse than my nose!!!
