I can't have a Christmas tree without Candy Canes. Just not Christmas without the Candy Canes on the tree. The Grandkids eat them after Christmas if I can keep them out of the tree before that.

Yes Candy Canes are a must!

Nothing... unless there is some Southern Baptist Christian denomination that thinks candy canes are evil... which wouldn't suprise me...

Personally I wouldn't.. I don't like candy canes for the same reasons captainassassin gave... plus they will probably attract ants.

She does like candy canes on christmas trees. I, on the other hand, do not. I had actually never heard of it efore this year, but I don't care. I agree, candy canes are yummy, but they are food? would you hand... lets say... celery on the christmas tree? I don't think so.

Oh, and candy canes are apparently religious because a myth has gone around that a candymaker in Indiana wanted to signify the birth, ministry and death of Jesus Christ with a candy... well, as I said, being a myth, it is not true.

When I worked in a Christian preschool, they talked about a candymaker who made an upside down "J" for Jesus, and used red to signify blood for the unity of mankind. Not sure if I personally believe it, but anywho...

They have other food on the christmas tree. Popcorn on string, chocolate in cute little packages. Also, it makes the tree look pretty.
