Is it possible that the people can stop global warming? I really feel bad for those poor little polar bears. I really want everyone to pitch and save the planet, because im a treehugging animal lover, but I don;'t know how. ANY TIPS?!?

I hope we can stop global warming before it's too late...seen the hal gore film too???

I think that the governments won't do anything until it's too late...

but every little bit helps I guess...that's the way I look at it and why I do what I can...

keep up the good fight, raise awareness, what more can be done? x

One option, you can follow Al Gore's example: fly around in private jets and drive large SUV's, or ride in stretchlimo's - the 'do as I say, not as I do' rule - what better example ?

theres no such thing as global warming.
the earth is just going through a cycle.
plus theres the same reasons for global warming as global cooling.

yes, the earth goes through cycles, but we're throwing the cycles off balance. that's why it's been getting hotter, but then during the winter it has been colder. the earth is trying to naturally balance herself out. if we continue to pour CO2 into the atmosphere with total disregard, it is my fear that the balancing act that the earth is doing will get so extreme that we will either be living in a waterworld, or another ice age.

I don't know about you, but I would rather not take any chances.

look at it this way, even if you don't believe that global warming is actually occuring, what's wrong with treating the earth like it actually is? keeping the earth in top shape by recycling, reusing, reducing, and getting away from oil is not going to hurt anything. on the contrary, the united states alone would benefit greatly from living more green. think of how the obesity rates would drop from more walking and riding bikes. think of how cancer rates would drop thanks to less carbon emissions.

global warming or not, I think the world is ready for a change.

We can slow it down and stop it from getting so bad, even if we can't completely stop it. We need to become less dependent on fossil fuels - the fact that they're so expensive at the moment is actually helping because we're learning not to be so greedy with them, and thinking about how we can travel more carefully and heat our homes using less of them. Making changes like that is really going to be what slows down global warming.

Always ask things like:
Do I need to drive or can I get there another way, or go somewhere closer instead?
Do I need to turn on the heating or could I close a window or put on more clothes instead?
Do I need to buy this fruit which came from the other side of the world, or can I get somthing that grew locally instead?

By making changes in the way we behave at home, work and on holiday, we can make the difference that matters.

I dont think global warming is real...
the earths temp fluctuates all the time...
we have been theough hundreds of ice ages throughout earths history.
and now we are in the middle of extreem heat and extreem cold.
we can't stop the inevitable
they said that when Mt. St. Helens errupted in the 80's,
it spewed out more pollution then than humans have ever produced.
I think its a myth.
something enviornmentalists and garbage men dreamed up so that they wouldn't have to pick up so muh of our trash

we should however help to not screw up the planet.
polution is a disgusting habit of the united states and it needs 2 b stopped.

sooitca you are an idiot. the nations already are under way trying to stop the global problems. a lot of people are ignorant and read the newspaper for once. actually almost everyone who posted something in here are stupid. if we took out cars and factories and all that we would be totally screwed. and I hate all of you tree hugging hippies. right now we are doing experiments to help our economy and resources. and to help ease your mind of the polar bears, we are doing tests of putting tin foil over the north and south poles seeing if it will help them. also polar bears are adaptations of bears. so its not like they are going extinct at all. only those breeds are. seriously you guys should stay in school so you know this stuff. im going to freshman highschool and you guys are stupid. hope you guys read a newspaper.

PS go back to school you tree hugging hippies.

lol...oh, oh it's on!
lol.

my goodness...
first of all...I am a tree hugger, I'm NOT a hippie, and I am educated. I started going to college when I was a junior in high school, and since then have gone to brigham young university (idaho) to become an environmental biologist.

these are the facts, son. I didn't get this crap from a newspaper, lol. you really believe everything they write in newspapers?!? haven't you heard of the word "bias"?!?

my goodness. so your credentials and expertise are that you go to high school and read the newspaper.
well I feel comfortable taking your opinion at face value.
lol.
yeah right.

oh, and I'm so sure that a layer of TIN FOIL is going to save us from global warming. right.

don't even get me started on your classification of polar bears.

my advice: stay in school. you're going to need it.

(sorry...I can get a little passionate at times...)

not at all, not at all. and you are a hippy. first off to be immature for a sec. as you said "gone to brigham young university (idaho)" yes you are a ho. :P ok now to be serious. I didnt get any of those facts from the newspaper. im just telling you idiots that you need to read about the local news and goverment news so you guys know whats happening in the world.

also the tin foil you mock, it is actually very useful and you know what fire blankets are made out of for fire fighters is made from that very same material. so learn some new things about what we use in the modern world, instead of living up in a tree hippie. and polar bears ARE JUST BEARS WHO HAVE ADAPTED THEIR FUR & THEIR ABILITY TO SWIN IN VERY COLD WATER! and im sure I am smarter than you even if you did go to a crappy college.

so if you think youu are better than me and want to debate more just respond and ill pown you.

I'm sorry..."pown"?

so you're saying because I'm a tree hugger I don't read newspapers or know what's going on in my community? that's what being green and crap is all about! getting back to your community! oh my goodness you are ignorant.

so if you didn't get these "facts" from a newspaper, are you just making them up then?

lol.

lol...and I know what tin foil is. even if it was used to, in some way, keep the polar ice caps from melting, the extra tons of CO2 that humans pour into the air would still be trapped in the atmosphere and would still raise the temperature of the earth causing, you guessed it, global warming. so even if the ice caps stayed frozen, everything on land would dry up and die, as well as everything in bodies of water. warm water = cooked fish.

I read your little profile thing and it said that you study something (I forgot and I dont care) that makes you want to be gramatically correct. so why did you screw up with this sentence? "that's what being green and crap is all about!" you know what you did wrong? well if you don't then look again, you should subsitute the exclamation mark with a question mark.

also it would help slow the melting of the ice caps so we can figure out how to lower the temperature.

and just to let you know I get my facts from good resources that you dont have to worry about knowing. also I wouldnt think that a hippy would read the newspaper because it uses trees to make.so sorry if you are a hippy and a hypocrite.

PS if you want ill be your friend if you want because you are a good person to debate things about.

lol...I was in envromental biology and I have since switched to english. but my background is enviro-bio.

a woman of many talents.

lol..I have no idea what you're talking about...substituting exclamation marks for question marks...I think it was a bad joke that I obviously didn't get.

...did you know that you can read the newspaper online? maybe I'm doing that...or maybe I read a neighbor's paper after they are done with it and then recycle it. ever thought of that?

ha ha...your source is someone who I don't need to know about?!? LOL! yes, blind following. lol. no thanks.

add me as a friend if you want...I GUESS I won't block you, lol.
