It's not stupid, unless you did A level math or uni math there's no reason for you to know what it is. I did it in A levels, and I'm still not sure how to explain it. It's basically the study of functions. Maybe some math people can define it more fully for you...

It's an advanced combination of algebra and geometry. It takes the rules of those subjects and uses them to describe even more complex problems and operations. Once you get through the theory of it, it's very practical stuff to know and you can use it all the time.

oh yeah it is just math... basically advanced math...
and as far as I know, it isnt in the regular high school cirriculum in the states... kids who do it are either in AP or take it in uni...
