I'm blind already since birth.
I can't imagine myself deaf. I don't know what I'd do if I ended up deaf. I'd probably go nuts if I couldn't hear my favorite shows on TV or radio, or for that matter, the computer. Since I'm blind, I think that's better then being deaf. I know a few people who are deaf and they do quite well independently.
I probably wouldn't want to end up like another Hellen Keller. I envy her though since she had to cope with blindness and being deaf at the same time. Promise me, you wouldn't want to be blind since you wouldn't have the opportunity to see colors, read or write in print, or not able to drive. But, if that happens, there are ways to cope with blindness. At least being blind all my life doesn't really bother me. I Can live a normal life just like anyone else. And, that goes for people who are deaf too.
this is always tough for me to answer. because my love for music is beyond my imagination. but I cant go through live without not being able to see the beauty of the world
I am deaf - I can't believe the majority of you would want to be deaf. I'd rather be blind!!
DEAF:
*Change hearing aid batteries
*Clean your ears like loads and loads - more than average
*Clean hearing aids
*Get tinnitus
*Prone to ear aches and infections
*Cannot join in a social conversation
*Some cannot speak or have a detoriation
*Some do not have great English grammar skills (written)
*Some cannot read because they do not know what the word is like
*Cannot hear cars coming round the corners
*Cannot use phones
*Have to use subtitles on TV
*Cannot hear radio/music
*Regular hospital check ups
*Get nervous twitches (in some deaf people)
*Behaviour is completely different to hearing people - more erratic and can be violent (so I have seen in my deaf community)
*Some cannot stand on their own two feet.
*Most rely on lip reading so any place too dark or fingers in front of mouths are frustrating
*Rely on sign language interpreters or any one writing a note down
There are so many things we have to take into consideration
WHEREAS...
BLIND:
*Cannot read because they cannot see
*Cannot see beauty
*Hospital check ups
*Clean the eyes regularly
*Can't watch TV
*Rely on the use of hearing or braille
Idkk that's tough because being blind means not being able to c mi momz beautiful face anymore but being deaf means not being able tew hear her encouraging words...umm I'd probably say blind because I cud sumtines tell how sum one looks by there voice ((or atleast I try tew)) lol and if I cudnt here my moms advice or her laugh then I'd b sad because I love her soo much she's always there for me encouraging me when I'm scared and making me smile
