The evidence for the big bang is overwhelming. But the process that resulted in planets was complex and took several billion years, so to say 'the big bang made the planets', is too simplistic a way of expressing it.

As far as the idea that Genesis is a historical record, sorry, but I just have to laugh. Even the ancients knew Genesis was a symbolic mythical story. The emperor Julian documented this fact in the 4th century - long before modern critical methods were developed.

I believe the story of the origin all creation is laid out clearly in the Bible - No, there wasn't a 'big bang' of happenstance.

The Bible doesn't rule out the Big Bang. If I may quote Genesis (the origin of all creation), "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light and there was light." To me it sound a LOT like a big bang just sorta happened. If you look at the rules of physics, it is very precise. There are mathamatical equations for how EVERYTHING works. People who think the Earth was created out of thin air, and the big bang theory can go hand in hand. God created the Big Bang, and made all the rules that the universe will live by.

By trying to use the Bible against the big bangy theory you are making a huge logical mistake, and are believing too literally in the Bible. Remember, these people who wrote the Bible didn't really understand what was going on, so they tried their best. But honesty, who could understand God? So youcan't blame them.

no offense to any of you guys but, the BIBLE?!?!?! science has proven pretty much everything about the big bang, although there are a few flaws to it, its still reasonable. also the bible talked about humans were just created, umm no, evolution made us evolve into what we are today. so I believe the big bang is actually real. if you can show me a ny evidence that its not real, besides the bible then tell me.

ps. you can probably tell that im not a fan of the bible but still have a religion.

ok I don't belive the "big bang" thoery is correct . I belive the way the bible says. God created everything in 6 days
if we where evolved from lets say monkeys or something. why do we still have monkies today? wouldnt they have kept evolving. hmm?

I think you have a limited concept of the Big Bang. You should research the "Big Bang" on the internet to get a good understanding about it.

In principle, I think the Big Bang was an immense explosion of Energy that caused Time, Space and Matter to begin. The matter was an incredibly hot and dense gas. As this gas started condensing into Stars, the stars heated up and started making the various elements that matter consists of.

Over billions of years, these stars would die, exploding and distributing their matter into the universe. Over more billions of years this matter would condense into new Stars, Planets, asteroids, etc.

Eventually, the evolution of the material universe led to planets being in the proper position relative to their Sun (star) that the evolution of life became possible. And so we became.

The "Big Bang" is just bad wording. It makes it seem as unlikely as anything described through myths. It seems like something a first grader would write. However, do not get discouraged because of the phrase. I agree 100% with toadaly, persiandawg and ethmer.
Really guys, god created the world in 6 days? How come we still have monkeys? You can still be deeply religious and open a science book once in your lifetime. It just shows you are narrow minded and are using your religion as an excuse to not learn the facts that surround us. Before you say I am narrow minded, I have read the entire Bible (twice) and the Koran. Thank you very much I am actually very educated when it comes to religious texts. Why don't you become educated in biology, physics and chemistry? It will help explain the Big Bang and evolution to you. The "Big Bang" is a theory based on FACTS. Yes, PROVEN FACTS.
Peace!

PS
We did not evolve from monkeys.

PPS
"Monkeys" is the plural of "monkey".

As toadaly said, saying "the big bang created the planets" is simplistic. The big bang is what brought into existence the raw material that formed the first stars, the debris of which formed younger stars, and so on, until planetary systems formed.

To the best of my knowledge (I'm no astrophysicist), what _caused_ the big bang and what came before it are still open questions, but the evidence that the big bang is how the universe started (and how long ago that was) is pretty incontrovertible.

Scientist believe that there was this super atom(so they call it). A internal reacting of some sort happened that caused the atom to become unstable & ignoted an explosion
but I really don't buy the big bang

There's another theory in string(I believe)
this universe was created by 2 parallel universes when they collided,
the clumps of matter was made by the ripples of the universe.
Seems more tangible to me

What created this universe(& many other universes) was a black-hole. It condensed the gases until it combusted into stars. Though the black hole has stopped feeding, there's still chance it can start at any given time. 7(or rather 6 I should say since Pluto is no longer counted as a planet) started taking orbit around the sun. 2 planets collides, 1 of them being completely demolished created the astral belt &, Mar, Earth, & Venues.
