Art project turns out bad

OK, I have an art project due, but it keeps looking bad, when I'm shading it and stuff would it be easier to go all one way with the pencil because when I shade it sum bits look really funny and my art teacher suggested I follow the same direction with...

I always had problems with shading too - there are different techniques. I suggest you talking to your teacher after class so she can guide you and give you some one-on-one help with it quickly.
