Are you allowed to own a police scanner?
I used to own one but, of course I don't have it anymore so, I was just wondering, if you can still own them here in the united states or elsewhere?
If so, do you need a license to own one?

I've owned one for 25 years. I've never had a license and never heard that you needed one. I've never heard of any law that says you can't own one.

It depends on the city and state in which you live.

Also, in many places it is illegal to use them for commercial purposes such as "ambulance chasing".
