Hi,
I've looked up hip stiffness for you. I'm not a doctor, but I used a couple sites and found that the most *common* cause for a stiff hip in America is osteoarthritis -- it affects more than 10 million people.
One site suggests you do these things if you wake up with a stiff hip:
Take a warm shower.
Do some gentle stretching exercises.
Use an ice pack on the sore area.
Rest the sore joint.
Good luck
My husband and I discuss and joke on a regular basis that as we age we are enjoying the "fruits of old age"
))
I know that my mother was getting the steroid shots for her osteoarthritis in her hips.
For me it is not a pain such as ouch. More of an annoying discomfort where you feel like you have to stretch out the hip muscle or "pop" it.
I will most likely mention it yet again to my doctor when next I go for physical.
Not a major issue with me, I think I am going to live!
))

Does anyone have this issue with their hips?
I am curious as to whether anyone else might be experiencing a similar issue that I am experiencing with my hips.
It has been going on for a few years now and an xray has been done to make sure that I was not out of alignment.
Now mind you, this only...
happens when I lay down.
At some point when I lay down or after I fall asleep, I am kept awake by this feeling of a tightness in my hips and I need to try and "pop" the hip to loosen the tension.
Some nights the feeling of tightness is so bad that I have to use like BenGay to alleviate the tension and so I can sleep.
It runs over into the morning when I get up and takes a good portion of the morning before it seems to disappear.
The night comes and it starts all over again.
Is there anyone who can relate to this or know of someone experiencing a similar situation?
