The only way you would lose muscle is if you aren't eating enough calories for the body to survive on, or if you stop exercising completely and just sit around eating foods that are high in sugar/fat. In which case you would be replacing fat with muscle, which really isn't good. (Unless your body fat is too low) The statement above isn't necessarily true. (Sorry gurugl012) Muscle weighs more than fat. When you exercise and tone-up you will gain some weight. Muscle will make you appear thinner though, and too much fat will make you look overweight. Gaining weight is not always bad! You mainly here about people gaining weight because of an unhealthy diet and no physical activity. For example, the people in the summer Olympics weigh more than you think. This is because they are toned and don't have excessive fat like most people in today's society. Hope I could help at all. happy

Weight loss:

Water weight- If you lose water weight you won't notice a difference and you won't go down any clothes sizes.

Fat Weight- If you lose weight you will certainly notice, as will people around you. Believe me, people will say '"Have you lost weight, you look great" or something along those lines. You would obviously weigh less and you'd slowly start wearing smaller sizes. (If you lose a significant amount of weight)

Muscle Weight- Losing muscle weight should be very noticeable as well. You would look smaller most likely, but losing muscle weight isn't a good sign of course. Like I said, losing muscle weight is usually caused by lack of exercise, or eating too little calories.

Remember, females should not go under 1,200 calories. This number is low as well, but enough to keep up with bodily functions.

Well it all depends how much muscle you have and how much fat. If you have more fat, than you'll probably be loosing fat and if you have a lot of muscle, it would take a long time to decrease. Like if you worked out a lot on your upper body and then you just start focusing on your lower body and don't work out on your upper body, again then you'll probably start loosing muscle from the upper body. but like I said it would take a long time to decrease in muscle. Hope this helps.
