Has anyone read a child called it?

WOW! This book was so sad I cried in like every chapter I can't believe how stupid this mom is to do this to his little boy. If you have never heard of this book, go to wikipedia and search "A Child Called It." You will see what I mean. I cried so...

hard! If anyone else has read this book, or when you do, post your responses here!

some of my best friends read the book and told me about it. I still have to get it, but they let me read some of the parts, like when the mom put food right in front of him and told him to "Eat", if he wasn't fast enough, she would pull the food away. once, when he finally eat as fast as the wind, she called him a pig. also, there was a time when she locked him in the room with dangerous chemicals in the tub letting off fumes or something and, to stay concious, he took a rag and sat on the floor by the toilet. he them dipped the rag into the toilet and covered his mouth. he had to keep doing that to stay awake.

I know exactly what you are talkin about tbug, that book is sooo SAD!
P.S. did you know that there is a sequel? I don't know wut it is called, but I will ask my friend and let you know.

My kids incl. myself read them, yeah they are very sad and tragic.
The great thing about everything now is his adulthood. He's a public speaker and he was at one of my kids school a couple of years ago.
Can't even imagine a mom like that so unreal.

I had to read it for school, and honestly, while it is awful that those tragic things happened to him, the book was very poorly written. I really feel that the author is not a writer, and the story could have been much more poignant if he got a real writer to write his story.
