A 500 calorie diet is not a healthy way to do it. Drastic dieting is not enjoyable, it's dangerous, and you're highly likely to fall off it for those reasons.

Let's not forget a diet is not a short term solution. A diet needs to be part of a lifestyle change- that involves exercise, relaxing time, and a balanced diet you can stick to for however many years.

your hurting yourself restricting food intake like that dont be surprised if you lose that weight but put on more than you started with. from experiance with friends it happens to them 9 times out of 10 you need an exercise program and restrict carb intake and your fine from what it seems like that itself will be good enough for you

"How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?"

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it's not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

"What should a minimum calorie intake be?"

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

Since you are an adult and able to control what you eat, maybe you could consider the South Beach Diet.

What Is The South Beach Diet?

Most people are sick of trying new diets for one reason – they do not work! What makes the South Beach Diet different is that it teaches a way of life where you rely on the right carbohydrates and fats. This new way of eating allows you to live contently without eating the bad carbohydrates and fats. In contrast, when a person eats bad carbohydrates and fats they feel hungrier, causing them to eat more, which causes weight gain. In exchange for eating right, you become healthier and can enjoy an 8 to 13 pound weight loss in just two weeks!
