2 labs and a pug

tomorrow I am getting a 9 week old female pug puppy... I have 2 labs already 1 female who is 11 and 1 male who is 4. I am worried that the male might not take well to a new animal. he loves other dogs but I am worried about jealpousy issues... anything I...

can do to make the introductions less tense?

Well, first the obvious...Labs are much much bigger than a Pug pup...this puppy will depend on you to protect it from getting stepped on, and/or too rough of play.

Do you have your mom or dad to help you with intro's?? I prefer introductions to happen on neutral territory...like maybe the neighbors yard, (I'd say park, but this pup needs to have her shots before you take her to a public place...too many diseases out there)...

Introduce the dogs, one at a time. Keep both pup and Lab on leashes. Let them sniff one another all over (that a doggie handshake)...as long as they are sniffing, they are curious...and curiosity is GOOD. Your old female will probably not be a problem,...after all, she accepted your male when he was a pup...Your male will most likely accept the pup, because she's a she...

My main concern would be playing too rough...not aggression...Don't mistake your female "teaching puppy manners" with aggression...puppies can be very forward, and she's liable to push the pup to the ground...but won't bite her. You should still "step in" and protect the pup, because the size difference is immense.

It will take a few days for your Labs to not get over-excited when they see the pup...but by the end of two weeks, they will be a "pack".

My German Shepherd has a "Pug Pal", Ellie...they've been buddies for a year...but I STILL protect her from rough house because he weights 110 lbs more than she does...When I say "protect", I mean I have HIM under control...I don't just pick up the Pug...You protect by controlling the bigger dog.
