sorry it took so long to anwser your question but I found that what helped me to stop is telling my mom because then I would feel ashamed to do it the next time becasue I didnt want her to see it and then slowly I stopped for the most part still to this day I do it once in a while but just know that there is a difference I dont do it to kill my self I do it because it helps my anger and pain were counsoling didnt so much I mean it doesnt for some people but anyways I think it would be a good idea to tell your parents if you want to stop otherwise as long as your not tring to kill yourself im pretty sure you will grow out of it and tell you friend that your not trying to kill yourself it just helps with problems also do it somewhere that wont have any chance of really hurting yourself but remember im not saying that doing it is a good thing I just know personally that it does help some people
