That would be because Goth is a subculture(since 1979) & Emo is just a genre/fashion scene(hopfully fade out, I dislike it). There are varies types of Goth, well over 15, cyber & vampyres(spelt with a why to decifer "real vimpires from the, well you know) are argueable. In all honesty theremight not of existied if it weren't for the fact Goths had to kind of intermingle with the industrial scene to survive a certain era. The vampyre may of started from the Gothic subculture but has became a subculture of it's own. True they both "accidentally" sprouted from the post punk, but from 2 completely different types of bands & 2 compleltey different types of history of the scene & name.
